Krueger School of Applied Technology

After waiting two years, ten middle school students - using the call sign KD5OMG belonging to the school's ham radio club - anxiously awaited their turns to speak with the International Space Station on March 7, 2003.   CMDR Don Pettit was onboard the ISS and used the call sign NA1SS.

 Congratulations, Kids!

James Goslin (KJ5QB) was the sponsoring teacher who - while instructing Amateur Radio five periods a day - worked diligently for months to get both kids and equipment ready.  You should be very proud, James!

TV and newspaper crews and an ARRL representative were on hand to mark the occasion.

Bob Rodriguez (K5AUW) manned the radios, served as technical advisor, and is shown here conferring with the "trackers" just prior to their contact.

Great job, Everybody!!
