The Alamo Area Radio Organization
Repeaters

The Alamo Area Radio Organization (AARO) maintains three repeaters.  On 2m, at 147.380 MHz (+ offset & 162.2 Hz sub-audible tone), on 70cm, at 443.875 MHz (+ offset & 162.2 Hz sub-audible tone), and on 23cm, at 1292.100 MHz (-20 MHz offset & no sub-audible tone). The 2m and 70cm machines are linked together, providing cross-band 2m-70cm/70cm-2m operation as well as the normal 2m-2m and 70cm-70cm operation. All three repeater frequency pairs are fully coordinated in the club's name. Anyone with a technician class or higher HAM license can use any of these machines.

The 2m and 70cm repeaters are manufactured by Kenwood; the 2m equipment was installed at the end of July 2003, while the 70cm equipment was purchased in 1998. The 23cm machine is a pair of Yeasu FT-2311R's interfaced to act as a repeater, and has been in operation since about 1992. Phone patch capability is available to AARO members on both 2m and 23cm. Codes to access the patch are provided to members upon joining AARO or, for renewing members, when the annual code change is made coincident with sending out new membership cards.

It's only through our fund-raising activities and membership support that our Board of Directors have the resources necessary to upgrade our repeater systems. It's thanks to you that AARO's club treasury is capable of permitting us to put your dollars back to work for you in this way to support this great avocation.
