Our next meeting for AARO at Mamacita’s will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Also Winter Field Day coming up.

There will be a discussion of Winter Field Day. We may look at some photos from the Christmas Party at Tim Jenison’s ranch. Also, we plan on a Wires-X demo.

For Winter Field Day, we are starting to gather numbers for dinner and breakfast Tim Jenison’s ranch. Please email us at aa5roclub@gmail.com to enable us to form the plan. Also please include if you have a need for RV space? And if you plan to bring a go kit for show or perhaps activation and what mode and band time slot, you might prefer. Preferences will be considered but not guaranteed.

Upcoming class for Amateur Extra licensing

If you or anyone you know is interested in attending an Amateur Extra Class licensing course, please pass along the following information, and feel free to publicize it with your radio club or any group you feel would benefit.

A free, weekly, live, Amateur Radio Extra Class Licensing course on Zoom will begin on Thursday, January 15, 2026, and will run through Thursday, March 26.  There will be 11 sessions.  The three-hour sessions will start at 6:30 PM Eastern Time and will also be recorded.  These are the classes that we have been holding for years sponsored by the Amateur Radio Club of the National Electronics Museum.

Note:  Attendees should hold (or be studying for) the General Class Amateur Radio License.

Please publicize this with anyone that you think would be interested.  Those wishing to sign up should email roland.anders@comcast.net.

Search and rescue

ALL SAN ANOTNIO AREA RADIO CLUBS

A call is out for amateur radio operators to volunteer to join search and rescue personnel as the search for missing continues along the Guadalupe River.

Volunteers must have a working 2-meter HT, boots, hat and walking stick.  If you have a cross-band radio in your vehicle that is a plus.  Work shifts are 12 hours.

Volunteers are currently needed for Friday. The need for other days this week are covered.

If you can volunteer, contact Patricia, KI7IEE or Ned KG5US.  Phone numbers are:  Patricia (206) 949-8974, Ned (210) 391-8258.
